Your Riverkeeper

Anacostia Riverkeeper protects and restores the Anacostia River for all who live, work, and play in the watershed. We also advocate for a clean healthy river for all of the river's communities. We envision a fishable, swimmable and enjoyable Anacostia for all.

Anacostia Riverkeeper is a member of Waterkeepers Chesapeake, a coalition of the full-time Waterkeepers that span the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (MD, PA, VA, and DC).  Our mission is to protect families by stopping pollution.  Together, and also as independent Waterkeeper programs, we employ environmental activists. With the support of thousands of members, we patrol thousands of miles of tributaries and shoreline in the Chesapeake and Coastal Bays region.

Waterkeepers Around the World

Anacostia Riverkeeper is also a member of Waterkeeper Alliance, an international grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to preserving and protecting water bodies from pollution.  Waterkeeper Alliance connects and supports local Waterkeeper programs in order to provide a voice for waterways and their communities worldwide.
