Anacostia Riverkeeper es una organización sin fines de lucro que trabaja para proteger y restaurar el río Anacostia y crear oportunidades para que la comunidad se conecte al río.
Bring together communities across the watershed to take charge. Work with public and private partners to enact needed policy. Involve local citizen scientists to encourage community “ownership.”
Clean water and a swimmable, fishable Anacostia River are our goals. A vibrant new riverfront, economic investment, and responsible environmental policy move us closer to that goal. Support our efforts to get there and consider making a donation.
How much trash have our Clean Waterways volunteers removed from the watershed? In 2020 Anacostia Riverkeeper and volunteers collected 16,151 pounds of trash from the shoreline and neighboring tributaries, preventing it from going into the river! 2021 is off to a great start with over 4600 pounds of trash from MLK Day alone.
Even with a short summer working around COVID concerns, 450 people attended this free catch and release fishing during the summer of 2020 and we look forward to seeing yall come summer of this year. Gear, bait, and instruction were all provided to make for a great family event! Look for it to start again in Junio 2021! For more information email: email@example.com
Please join us for one of the many opportunities to experience the Anacostia Watershed, like fishing, kayaking, powerboat tours, and volunteer service – or join us for a water-quality monitoring trip!
